Friday Home Fun- Weather Projects


Below are some great projects to teach your children about weather that go along with our previous post April Showers: Teaching Your Child about the Changing Seasons- Spring in in the Air!"   Have fun!

Let it Rain!
Try out this fun science project to learn about rain!
 
Items Needed:
Plastic Cup
Water
Shaving Cream
Blue Food Coloring
Dropper
Fill a clear plastic cup with water. Put shaving cream on top for a cloud. Explain that when clouds get really heavy with water, it rains! Then put blue food coloring on top of the cloud and watch it rain.



Cloud Viewer
Teach your children about the different types of clouds with this awesome cloud viewer! Print out the template at this website.Glue the cloud viewer template to a piece of card stock. Cut out the shape of the cloud viewer (don’t forget to cut the square out of the middle). Glue to a large craft stick. Hold the viewer up so that you can see the cloud in the middle square and find the cloud on the template that looks most like the clouds you are viewing!

Craft Sticks

Rainy Day Picture
Items Needed:
Paper
Cotton balls
Aluminum foil
Scissors
Glue
Crayons

Have your child make a rainy day picture by using cotton balls for clouds, small paper cut outs for rain drops, and aluminum foil for lightning and puddles. Let them get creative to make their own rainy day scene! Have your child tell a rainy day story to go along with the picture and write it on the back of the paper!
