special guest, green eggs and ham and a cake decorating contest!
Here is a
wonderful website that has some great Dr. Seuss Birthday Fun!
Dr. Seuss Hats
Making a Dr.
Seuss hat is a great way to get creative and celebrate Dr. Seuss all day long!
Items Needed:
Paper Plate
Construction
Paper
Glue,
staples, tape
Scissors
Crayons,
markers, colored pencils
Decoration
items: Pipe cleaners, pom poms, feathers, buttons, sequins, etc.
To get
started, cut a hole in your paper plate to fit your head. Next make the shape
of the top of your hat with construction paper and secure it to the hat. You can
make it as tall, small, fat or slim as you’d like! Next decorate it as crazy as you’d like! Use
Dr. Seuss books as inspiration! Some kids love to make the red and white
striped hat like the Cat in the Hat!
Dr. Seuss Book
What a
better way to learn to rhyme even if the words you use are silly and make no
sense! It’s fun to rhyme and a Dr. Seuss book is the perfect way to have some
rhyming fun!
Items Needed :
Stack of
computer printer paper
Stapler
Pen/Pencil
Crayons,
Markers, Colored Pencils
Create your
own Dr. Seuss book by first stacking about 5 sheets of paper (more or less
depending on the length of our story). Fold the stack in half and place two staples in the fold to secure
the papers together. Next, create your story. You can write about anything you
wish, just don’t forget to rhyme! Decorate the pages by drawing some fun Dr.
Seuss books. Make funny looking trees, people, houses. The options are endless.
When you are all done, read your story aloud to your family!
Green Deviled Eggs and Ham
Put a little bit of a twist on the original green eggs and ham and have this yummy Green Deviled Eggs and Ham as a snack as you enjoy the Dr. Seuss book version!
1 dozen eggs
Green Food coloring
White Vinegar
Ham- lunch meat
Mayonnaise
Mustard
Salt and Pepper
Hard boil the dozen eggs. Adding a bit of White vinegar to the water will help the shells to slide off. Peel all of the eggs, slice in half and remove the yoke. Place the yoke in a small bowl and mix with a little mayo, mustard, salt and pepper and chopped ham to taste. Once mixture is well mixed, add green food coloring and mix until contents are a wonderful green! To make these green eggs even more GREEN, after the eggs are boiled, sliced in half and yokes removed, place the egg halves in a bowl of cold water, food coloring and a splash of vinegar Let them soak in the green water until the egg is the color of green you'd like! They may look strange but you will like them! "Try them, try them, you may! Try them, Try them and you may I say!"
Dr. Seuss birthday parties are so fun!!! Incorporating food, fun and learning. You are a great Mom :)
